Bishop's Youth Discussion will be held Sunday, August 29, at 6:30 at my house. Before coming I would like each of you to listen to the fireside talk by Blaine M. Yorgason, Caring. (You can use the player at the end of this post to listen to the talk.)
When I was a teenager I heard this talk and it had a huge impact on me. I began to think about whether or not I believe the gospel and if I do, how I should act. As you listen I want you to think about the question "What Would Jesus Do?" as you consider your relationships at school, at home and at church.
Everyday we are put into situations where we can either lift someone or tear them down. How do we decide which choice to make? What affect do those choices have on us and on others? How do I take upon me the name of Christ as I promise to do each week during the sacrament?
Despite the saying that "words will never hurt me" words can be the most harmful weapon. So, before you say something about someone else or to someone else I want you to think of these three questions:
1) Is it True?
2) Is it Kind?
3) Is it Necessary?
And then see if you still want to say it.
See you all on Sunday!

Hi Bishop,
ReplyDeleteIs this the talk that refers to the dog food incident? I had this on tape as a youth, which will have been a copy of a copy of a copy but now no longer know where it will be. As YM President in our ward, I would love to get hold of it again so that I could play it to our youth. If you could let me know where I could download it from or if you could email it to me, I would appreciate it.
